We are looking forward to resuming bus service for our customers as soon as it is feasible to do so.
We do not yet have a specific date for when we will resume service, but will keep you informed via this website. We also encourage anyone who is interested to sign up for our service alerts via this link
How soon we can resume service will depend on several key factors: (1) the safety and well-being of our passengers, and (2) the demand for ridership.
Our ridership surveys, coupled with our conversations with leaders in business, Chambers of Commerce and in transportation have shown that many people are still working remotely and many offices will not fully re-open until 2021. Accordingly, far fewer people are commuting from the Cape and the South Shore to Boston and back.
This is born out by reports that commuter rail service is operating at about 11% of capacity right now, and bus ridership on and off the Cape, as reported by another carrier, is at 10% of its normal capacity.
Low ridership hasn’t simply affected Cape Cod, South Shore and Boston, as can be seen in this national article.
Since acquiring Plymouth & Brockton in 2019, our mission has been to build upon the foundation established by the former owners and further expand what we can offer. In addition to our 14 new state-of-the-art motorcoaches, we have invested in technology upgrades and are evaluating expanded service routes. We are also considering the establishment of a Business Class service (which would allocate a motorcoach to a specific company or several companies and provide transportation to and from the place of employment, as well as a Transit Management Association.) We have also recently entered into an agreement with the US Army to hire veteran drivers upon completion of their military service.
During this down time, we are taking many proactive steps as we prepare to re-open. We will continue to communicate with passengers via our website, social media, email and text alerts.
We, too, want to see the bus service resumed as soon as possible. It is important to us to do it right, and to do it safely.
We thank our passengers and the public for understanding. We look forward to serving your transportation needs in the not-too-distant future.
